Where is Army Human Resources Command located?


Originally located in Alexandria, Virginia, Army Human Resources Command (HRC) was created in 2003. The organization’s mission is to optimize Army human resources utilization in peace and war. The mission is performed by 40 operational elements nationwide. They perform a wide variety of human resources functions, including career management, personnel actions, and leadership development. These activities include recruiting, hiring, training, and retention of Soldiers.

HRC’s primary focus is the care of Soldiers. Its primary responsibility is to help Regular Army and Army Reserve Soldiers advance in their careers. It does so by providing career development, leadership development, and training opportunities. It also provides support to the Director United States Army National Guard and the Chief Army Reserve. In addition, the HRC performs transitions for active-duty and deployed Soldiers. In the future, the HRC will be relocating to Fort Knox, Kentucky.

The HRC was formally activated on October 2, 2003, in the courtyard of the Pentagon. The Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel supervises the command. It was established as part of a larger modernization plan. It is a direct reporting unit of the Department of Defense. Its commanding officer is Major General Dorian T. Anderson.

Previously, the HRC was the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel field operating agency. The HRC merged with the United States Total Army Personnel Command in December 2017.
